Should Your Speak with a Disability Lawyer Before Filing Your Application for Benefits

In my opinion, you would be wise to speak with a #disabilitylawyer prior to filing your application for benefits. You do not need to hire the lawyer at this point, but you will benefit by learning more about the pros and cons of your case, and by establishing a relationship with the lawyer before you have the time pressure of an actual pending claim.

As I discuss in this video, an experienced disability lawyer can offer you perspective about what you need to win your case. Is your medical condition one that judges recognize as being likely to create work limitations or are you likely to face a major uphill battle?

What evidence will you need? Do you have the right kind of doctor and will your medical records be convincing?

Do you have any unnecessary distractions like a problem with street drugs or alcohol? Are you working part time, thus creating questions about your capacity for full time work.

What theory or theories of disability should you use? Will the #gridrules apply, or perhaps a listing?

As you can see there area lot of questions that you may not realize that you should be asking, and a good disability lawyer will put you on the right track.
